METRO EAST CHAPTER OF CREDIT UNIONS
CHARITY COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES
April 19, 2012

The regular meeting of the CHARITY COMMITTEE of the METRO EAST CHAPTER OF CREDIT UNIONS was called to order by Chairperson Crystal Gracz at 9:05a.m. on April 19, 2012 at Motor City Co-op Credit Union.

COMMITTEE MEMBERS PRESENT: Crystal Gracz, Gail Hernalsteen, Mandy Lathrop, Antoinette Funke, Ronnie Johnson, Jessica Johnson, Barb Johnson, Heather Nelson, and Kathi Sitek.

COMMITTEE MEMBERS EXCUSED: Becky Reini and Julie Swidwinski.

GUEST PRESENT: Katrina Studvent, Race for the Cure.

PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES: Motion made by Gail Hernalsteen and supported by Ronnie Johnson to approve the minutes of February 23, 2012, meeting as is. Motion carried.

CHAIRMAN’S REPORT:  No updates or information to report from the Executive Committee. 

OLD BUSINESS:
Lupus Foundation – Michigan Chapter – Mandy Lathrop was the lead for this campaign which concluded on February 29th.  $2,503.38 was collected.  $500 of this amount were funds designated by the charity chapter fund.  Monies were forwarded to the chapter treasurer, Fran Pierce for disbursement.

March of Dimes – Collections for March of Dimes will end Monday, April 30th. The walk will be April 29th and the giveaway bags will be assembled on April 26, 2012 at Motor City Co-op Credit Union at 2 p.m. All checks will be mailed to Gail Hernalsteen. Please make the checks payable to “Metro East Chapter”..

NEW BUSINESS: 
Race for the Cure – Kathy Sitek is the lead for the Race for the Cure. This event will take place on May 26, 2012 and funds will be collected from May 1st until June 30th. All checks will be mailed to Kathy Sietek the first week of July, payable to “Metro East Chapter”.

Katrina Studvent is our representative from the Race for the Cure attended our meeting an provided packets, brochures and information about this years event.

“Pink Martini Night” is being hosted at Bar Louie (Partridge Creek location) on Friday, May 18th from 6:00 – 10:00 p.m.  Proceeds including a 50/50 raffle will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.

ELECTIONS: None to be reported.

NEXT MEETING: Thursday, June 21, 2012, tentative at Detroit Metropolitan Credit Union at 9:00 a.m.

Motion was made by Kathy Sitek and supported by Gail Hernalsteen to adjourn the meeting at 9:51 a.m. Motion carried.
