METRO EAST CHAPTER OF CREDIT UNIONS
CHARITY COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES
May 20, 2008

The regular meeting of the CHARITY COMMITTEE of the METRO EAST CHAPTER OF CREDIT UNIONS was called to order by Chairperson Crystal Gracz at 8:45 a.m. on May 20, 2008 at Motor City Co-op Credit Union, Clinton Township, MI.

COMMITTEE MEMBERS PRESENT:

Crystal Gracz, Aaron Smith, Gail Hernalsteen, Kathy Figgs and Laura Beauregard.

COMMITTEE MEMBERS EXCUSED:

Shirley Dolecki, Barb Pitlik Becky Reini & Jenny Bulgrien

PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES:

Motion made by Laura Beauregard and seconded by Kathy Figgs to approve the minutes of April 22, 2008 meeting.Motion carried.

OLD BUSINESS:

March of Dimes-Kathy Figgs reported totals for the 6 Credit Unions that participated, with a grand total of $13, 625.25.Gail Hernalsteen reported that we were over budget by $391.10.Discussed strategies to coordinate with Port Huron area Credit Unions to get them more involved in fund raisers.At this point, E&A has taken on the majority of the efforts.

Relay for Life-Laura Beauregard reported on Relay for Life (RFL) June 7 & 8 at Sterling Heights High School. Revised Schedule of Activities is below to reflect actual times:

June 7….10 am to 4 pm-Crystal Gracz
June 7….4 pm to 9 pm- Kathy Figgs
June 7….9 pm to June 8…2 am- Gail Hernalsteen
June 8….2 am to 7 am –Aaron Smith
June 8….7 am to 10 am- Committee members return for clean up

Crystal Gracz reported that she has purchased prizes for the onsite fund raising and are color coded with the “prize wheel”. Additional onsite fundraising will include selling luminary bags and having a craft table for individuals to decorate their purchased bags. Committee members are asked to bring in craft items from work and home. Also, Crystal is checking on using a Polaroid camera for photo-ops with “Super Heroes”.Gail will make photo holders as a memento. Housekeeping issues were also discussed; committee will bring battery lanterns and money aprons if they have them, Aaron will transport the tables and chairs, Kathy will bring a cash box and Crystal will provide drinks and snacks for the camp workers with left over funds.

Habitat for Humanity –Kathy Figgs reported that the kick off for Habitat for Humanity is July 1st.Kathy will provide Credit Unions with cutout angels to sell for $1 each.The build site is in Clinton Township; 16 Mile Road and Gratiot area.There is a $50 fee if you want to help build. The committee has committed to providing lunch for 30 workers on Saturday, July 26.Each Credit Union will submit $50 of their fund raising efforts by July 25thto fund the lunch.

MISD Thank You Luncheon
Crystal reported on the MISD Thank You luncheon for volunteers May 8th.Four committee members and 2 guests attended.

Motion was made by Laura Beauregard and seconded by Kathy Figgs to adjourn this meeting at 10:15 a.m.Motion carried.
