METRO EAST CHAPTER OF CREDIT UNIONS
CHARITY COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES
March 18, 2008

The regular meeting of the CHARITY COMMITTEE of the METRO EAST CHAPTER OF CREDIT UNIONS was called to order by Chairperson Crystal Gracz at 8:42 a.m. on March 18, 2008 at Motor City Co-op Credit Union, Clinton Township, MI.

COMMITTEE MEMBERS PRESENT:
Crystal Gracz, Aaron Smith, Gail Hernalsteen, Kathy Figgs, Barb Pitlik, Becky Reini and Laura Beauregard.

COMMITTEE MEMBERS EXCUSED:
Jenny Bulgrien, Shirley Dolecki

PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES:
Motion made by Aaron Smith and seconded by Barb Pitlik approve the minutes of January 15, 2008 meeting.  Motion carried.

OLD BUSINESS:
Aaron Smith recapped Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America. Five Credit Unions participated with total donations of $2727.76 Aaron detailed sponsorship benefits at the CCFA Golf Classic being held on Saturday, May 17, 2008.  Aaron & Gail will try to find golfers for the foursome included in the sponsorship package.

Gail Hernalsteen recapped the Golden Mile kickoff for March of Dimes.  Five committee members attended and they had a photo-op with the Ambassador Katherine. Metro East Chapter will host checkpoints at both Metro Beach and Port Huron. Gail is coordinating with Georgia Stewart from E&A Credit Union the Port Huron checkpoint. Crystal and Becky will contact March for Dimes Reps in Port Huron and Metro Beach to check on Credit Unions participation.  Volunteers are still needed for set up and hosting the checkpoint at Metro Beach.

Habitat for Humanity (July-September) will be discussed at April’s meeting.

NEW BUSINESS: 
Crystal Gracz reported on the Kick off dinner for Relay for Life which she attended with Kathy Figgs.  An official welcome to Laura Beauregard from St. Angela Parish Credit Union who has joined the committee. Laura is Site Coordinator for Relay for Life-Sterling Heights High School.  She detailed the responsibilities of a “Team”.  The committee discussed the obligation of hosting a 24 hours tent and volunteers needed.  Suggestions of items to sell were discussed. Gail will check cost for the items.

8:30 a.m., April 22, 2008, at Motor City Co-op Credit Union.

ADJOURNMENT:
Motion was made by Kathy Figgs and seconded by Becky Reini to adjourn this meeting at 10:20 a.m.  Motion carried.
