METRO EAST CHAPTER OF CREDIT UNIONS
CHARITY COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES
January 15, 2008

The regular meeting of the CHARITY COMMITTEE of the METRO EAST CHAPTER OF CREDIT UNIONS was called to order by Chairperson Crystal Gracz at 8:43 a.m. on January 15, 2008 at Motor City Co-op Credit Union, Clinton Township, MI.

COMMITTEE MEMBERS PRESENT:
Crystal Gracz, Aaron Smith, Gail Hernalsteen, Kathy Figgs, Barb Pitlik, Shirley Dolecki, Jenny Bulgrien.

COMMITTEE MEMBERS EXCUSED:
Becky Reini

PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES:
Motion made by Gail Hernalsteen and seconded by Aaron Smith to approve the minutes of November, 2007 meeting.  Motion carried. 

OLD BUSINESS:
Aaron Smith addressed the committee with additional information regarding Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America.  Aaron provided general information guides, lobby name slips and posters for additional information.  The committee agreed to use monetary donations towards a level of sponsorship at the CCFA Golf Classic being held  on Saturday, May 17, 2008.  Sally Gibson and Karen Myers resigned their positions on the committee. 

NEW BUSINESS: 
Jenny Bulgrien accepted the position as Public Relations committee member.  Gail Hernalsteen mentioned that the Golden Mile kickoff for March of Dimes will be held in March, more information to follow.  Several committee members discussed selling Plushland items as an additional way to gather donations for March of Dimes.  The committee agreed to sponsor Relay for Life as the charity for May and June. Habitat for Humanity Women Build will be the charity for July, August and September.  All committee members agreed that, in order to gain momentum, there must be involvement and physical presence at the different charity functions.

8:30 a.m., March 11, 2008, at Motor City Co-op Credit Union. 

ADJOURNMENT:
Motion was made by Barb Pitlik and seconded by Kathy Figgs to adjourn this meeting at 10:15 a.m.
