PROGRAM AND EVENTS:

We also discussed the upcoming Holiday Party. We decide to keep the cash bar. The P and E Committee will decide which charity we will donate the gifts to with the Executive Committee supporting the idea of donating to Children’s Hospital. The next event is our Charity Golf Outing which will be held September 12. Lisa reported that we have 97 golfers registered. We may need to find a new venue for the outing next year.
GOVERNMENT & POLITICAL FORUM REPRESENTATIVE:
Patty reported on the recent Forum Meeting. October 12 is Capitol Day in Lansing and all are urged to attend. Our Legislative Breakfast will be October 17 at Christian Financial at 8:30 a.m. The CUNA GAC will be March 18 – 22, 2012 and the Michigan GAC will be April 17 – 18. The CURE golf outing will be July 25, 2012. Both of our PACs are doing well. The Forum voted to increase our contribution to CUNA’s PAC by $25,000. On the Federal front the key issues are MBL and Secondary Capital and on the state front the key issue is mortgage reform. We are also working on eliminating 4 rules for State Chartered Credit Unions.
CU DIFFERENCE CAMPAIGN:
Lauren did not have a formal report. Lauren introduced Jenny Bulgrien from E and A and announced that Jenny would be the new co-chair for the campaign.
Ron Martin provided a written report to the Committee highlighting the upcoming MCUL sponsored events. He mentioned that MCUL staff would be meeting with the NCUA on Sept. 6 and with OFIR on Oct. 4. If there are any questions or issues for the regulators please notify a league staff member. Ron reported on various staff changes at the league.
Crystal discussed the written report. She asked the Committee to suggest additional participants for the Charity Committee. She also reported that there will be no need to sort food at the Macomb Food Bank as we discussed last month, because they are out of food. The Committee may consider supporting the Macomb Food Bank instead of Gleaners as our upcoming charity.
Drema discussed the opening that we still have on the Executive Committee due to Jim Shereda’s resignation. If anyone knows of anyone who would like to become involved, please let Drema know.
