METROEAST CHAPTER OF CREDIT UNIONS
EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES
April 10, 2012


The regular meeting of the EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE of the METROEAST CHAPTER OF CREDIT UNIONS was called to order by Drema Isaac at 9:11 at Eastside Family Federal Credit Union.
 
PRESENT:  
Drema Isaac, Fran Pierce, Vicki McIntosh (phone conf),  Marty Winiarski, Gary Sylvester, Gail Hernalsteen & Jim Safian.
 
COMMITTEE MEMBERS EXCUSED:
Carolyn Edwards, Jan Rose, Lisa Burroughs, Patty Campbell and Kathie Trembath
 
GUESTS PRESENT:
Tony Boni and Ron Martin
 
PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES:
Motion was made by Marty and seconded by Jim to accept February and March minutes with corrections to the March minutes regarding MEGAC scholarship maximum of $500 per credit union/per year. Motion carried.
 
TREASURER’S REPORT:
The March Treasurer’s Report was presented by Fran Pierce.  A motion was made by Marty and seconded by Gail to approve the Treasurer’s Report. Motion carried.
 
PROGRAM AND EVENTS:
Fran reported for the committee. Next event is the Annual Meeting on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Andiamo Italia. Executive meeting will precede the meeting at 5 pm; Annual Meeting begins at 6 pm.  There was a discussion regarding the guest speaker for the Annual Meeting.  Candice Miller is unavailable and the Executive Committee thought instead of having a representative from the MCUL Governmental Affairs speak, a Comedian type entertainment would be a better choice and a new experience.  The discussion concluded with Marty contacting Dave Frame, local comedian and will report his availability to Fran, Drema & Donna.
 
GOVERNMENT & POLITICAL FORUM REPRESENTATIVE:
Drema reported on the Washington GAC. Six Metro East Chapter representatives attended. MCUL presented Candice Miller with a plaque for Federal Lawmaker of 2011. Credit Union representatives had the opportunity to discuss Supplemental Cap and Business Lending with lawmakers. Lansing GAC is April 17 & 18th.  There are 6 MEGAC members plus other chapter executives attending.
 
CU DIFFERENCE CAMPAIGN:
No report
 
MCUL REPRESENTATIVE:
Ron Martin discussed his written report which included upcoming MCUL sponsored events, staff changes and website updates. Mona Stand, from CU Times, is requesting credit unions to contact her if your CU has foreclosure rentals.   
 
MCUL DIRECTOR:
No Report
 
CHARITY COMMITTEE:
Gail reported that the Charity for March & April is March of Dime-March for Babies.  The Chapter will be hosting 3 checkpoints at 3 walk locations. Volunteers are need at all 3 locations.
Volunteers are also need prior to the walk to assemble give-away bags on Thursday, April 26th at Motor City Co-op Credit Union at 2 pm-6pm.
 
ME GAC: Tony reviewed his written report.  The committee is contacting 11 CUs that have PAC goals of $100 or less.  Letters with PAC raising ideas were sent and follow-up calls will be made.
 
CHAIRMAN’S REPORT:  
Drema discussed the Chapter’s annual contribution to MCUF.  A motion was made by Fran and seconded by Gail to make an initial contribution of $1000 to the general fund and an additional $1000 for a chapter matching challenge.  Jan Rose will send letters to other Chapter Chairperson regarding the challenge.

A motion was made by Marty Winiarski and seconded by James Safian to donate an auction item valued up to $500 to Children’s Miracle Network. Lisa will be asked to purchase the item as in previous years.

In regards to the Annual Meeting, Marty, Nominating Chairperson, reported all nominees accepted their nomination for a 2-year term.

NEXT MEETING:
The next meeting of the Executive Committee will be Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at 5 pm preceding the Chapter’s Annual Meeting at Andiamo Italia.
